Bald Eagle


Bald Eagle in Goochland County. Isn't he handsome?

Very large raptor.
Adults unmistakable with brown body and white head and tail.
Bill large and hooked.
Long broad wings held flat while soaring.

Eagle: Golden feathering on nape
Plumage almost entirely dark brown, without white in underwing coverts
Two pale brown median tail bands
Golden band on upperwing coverts
