The Headman

This is a statue of "The Headman". The 9-foot-tall bronze " statue is in the Brown's Island section of Canal Walk, a park that follows the shore of the James River. It particularly commemorates the role of African-Americans as skilled boatmen in the early days of commerce in the Richmond area.
